At the moment I’m surrounded by confusion. I won’t say it’s lonely, but I will say it’s stray and wandering. I won’t say there’s any definable sort of pressure pressing in, but I will say there is an inward force, perceptible.

I find more and more the words we speak become not our reality, but the energy we build up in support of ourselves, which hangs around until the sentence is finished.

Anyone else get this feeling?

Who steers the ship?

Or does it go where the waves take it?

Is there a rudder perhaps, that has a tendency?

The emergent patterns that develop through thousands of ants seeking food and bringing that food source back to the hive converge towards pathways that undulate and change their patterns slowly over time, like how winding rivers slowly reshape their banks.

A need first hidden, then revealed via its expression, whether to ones self or another, set in motion changes that seek to fulfill that need. Many times we subjugate this process, in fact I would say that for many people, more often than not, they conspire to undermine the success of that need finding its fulfillment.

The struggle of the secondary aspect of thing, the self reflection on this tendency to corrupt, forms a trap that has convenient escapes sold as the bread and circuses, until I think many become blinded by this process that the needs naturally engender.

If it's pain, it all passes, until it doesn't, but in that "doesn't" comes a bigger pass, so it all still passes.

I am reminded of a line from the movie blueberry: "Watch your thoughts and feelings, Now you know what it is basically."

Haha, I think this really gets to the point of the thread.

…..

I think the most we can do is ride the waves, over and over again. They won’t necessarily take us anywhere because we’re riding against them, or with them, or whatever.

It’s like the spider when their web is caught up and broken in the wind. Just build a new one.

We have inner needs and yearnings but lack the language with which to express them. Just like a new-born baby. It wants, it needs but all it can do it utter incongruent noises and/or cry.

I came across a work called "The Divine Matrix" somewhere. It's a book but I don't have it so it was a website that I had visited. It speaks of an invisible "matrix" that is everywhere around us and which can only be communicated with via the heart and mind, the main centres of our being. The mind expresses (often in words) what it desires, the heart expresses the emotion and feeling of that desire fulfilled. It said that if you take time to speak from the mind what you desire and at the same time foster in your heart the feeling and emotion of having that desire fulfilled, i.e. as if it had just happened, then the matrix hears, understands and responds.

Here's the opening lines from the book:

Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It’s too high!
COME TO THE EDGE
And they came.
and he pushed.

and they flew.

This is very well put.

I think in many cases, there are ways of referring to things that can clearly communicate a message, even though it is not spelled out. Perhaps a baby cries to signify to their mother they are hungry - and the mother immediately understands, but to other people they just hear an irritating sound that brings annoyance.

There is in this another factor at play - perhaps we can call it a learned attentiveness, or a pattern recognition (as to differentiate an "I'm hungry" cry vs an "I'm in pain" cry).

The mother is thus almost an initiate, in the sense of being able to decode these cries. The initiation is evident in this case - it is because she is the mother, she cares, she works to take care of the child, and so on. Plenty of mothers are not initiates - you see this quite clearly in many cases.

The communications and messages from the emotions can be transmitted, but if we use words, these words are just a container for them - they are not the same as the feeling.

I think what you write in the last bit, about a cooperation of intents and messaging system from two different centers that operate on two different planes is spot on - and has implication everywhere, including in alchemy, and can even be viewed as the separate practices expressed by the ideas of "work" vs "pray", wherein the prayer is not of the faculties of the mind (intellect), but accessing a different form of communion.

Remember so many texts place a large emphasis on the prayer, but even this is still (due to necessity) expressed in the text via words, but the processes they allude to are beyond the realm of words.

Love it. Very curious! I’ll have to read the book.

I feel the same way about cats and dogs. They try to communicate, and those of us who listen are able to understand. But those who aren’t dog or cat people just see them making noise.

I suppose my OP Hasn’t completely worked out what this thread is yet, but I do think we’re getting there.

Open question: how many different ways of speaking are there?
