Some of you showed interest in creating a map on which we can mark alchemy related spots all over the globe.

Here it is:

THE MAP

Everyone reading this should be able to add his places. Lets see if this works and try to make this the first and best alchemy related map in the world (see megalomaniac thread ;) )!

What a great idea, Florius! I am always very interested in finding such spots when I travel somewhere.

I would say, "Alchemy related" includes Hermetism in general.

The definition should not be too strict.
For example I imagine some kind of order within the places:

"Architecture": Fulcanelli's places, House Flamel, Some houses in prague,....

"Rare and original books": the libraries where to find them.

"Art": Museums, exhibitions with alchemical content

There should be a short description of what to find at a place.

Edit:
What I think wouldn't be helpful is something like "I felt a special kind of energy at that place near a tree in the black forest."
Though we can talk about if we want to have these kind of places collected in another subgenre like those above.

Another not useful thing to do might be to locate all possible hermes/mercury statues or churches with pictures of the holy trinity. But on the other hand, why not? What do you think?

Here is a good location:

The Ritman Library, or, Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica — Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Notes: Rare manuscript room viewable upon appointment, also, you can find a copy of the Alchemy Forums Anthology in their collection. I believe Salazius’ book might be in there too.

The Map is up!

See first post for it and further instructions!

I just added two categories and four locations to get the idea.
Will add more once in a while. Feel free to add yours! Yell, if you need help, or something is/goes wrong and I will change the modus operandi!

FF, what an awesome idea. I was reading Fulcanelli's Mysteries and wondering about how cool it would be to tour of the different cathedrals mentioned in his book. Also get to see all the things he didn't mention. Someone interested in a 'pilgrimage' could sketch out an itinerary based on the map.

Thank you for organizing and starting the map. :)

Could you please provide detailed instruction how to add a location to the map and list?

You need to be logged in with your Google account. You will need to create one, if you have none. The rest is easy. Tell me if that helped. If not, I will provide an easy step by step tutorial.

Thanks to all for liking the idea and participating!

Edit: Added categories "monuments" and "museums", added and reorganized some places. I will take care of this, but please try to keep it logically sorted too.
Thanks!

Edit 2: If you don't want to register at Google, post your locations here. Other members and/or I will then add them to the map.

Edit 3: Added category "birthplaces/places of residence"

Edit 4: All places of Fulcanelli's Mystère des Cathédrales added (I hope ;) )

What about Egypt/the land of Khem? I’m sure there’s a few hermetic points of interest there haha.

All I can think of are the Pyramids at Giza.

Also, I’m curious which forum member will be first to add their lab location? Lol

Please do. I was logged in with my Google account, but didn't manage adding any locations to your map, using my phone.

It is known that alchemy seems to have it's roots in egypt. But what exactly have the pyramids of giza to do with it?

Edit: Same counts for the library of Alexandria. Please be more specific what excactly alchemical related is to be found there, or those places will be deleted!

I again would like to encourage everyone to mark one or more cool alchemy related places. If you don't know how this works, just post it in this thread or pm me.

Thanks!

PS. Most of the Fulcanelli Dwellings are already there. Go look at them with sattelite/street view! It's fascinating to see how they actually look like nowadays and you don't even have to travel to see those buildings (from the outside).

Thanks Michael!
I added some sites in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Fulcanelli Dwellings still are not complete yet. I will do that during the next weeks.
