I really enjoyed the film Arrival - a piece of cinematic genius. I was saddened to see that there were no movie reviews about the occult and alchemical themes that from my perspective were clearly woven into the picture. The aliens' language was literally communicated as Ouroboros-type circles, and they had seven fingers to write the circles (suggesting the seven stages of the Philosopher's stone). There was even a Rectificando-> Invenies moment of total, cathartic, understanding of the universal language by Amy Adams' character, and of course the mother/father/child trinity shone through at the end, the mother and father joined as opposites (one a linguist and the other a mathematician/scientist). And the numerology of the seven (heptapod aliens) and twelve (levitating ships/pods) really suggests the seven planetas in the twelve houses of the zodiac. And then all the stuff about secret codes being unraveled and the strong reliance on metaphorical interpretation. What a great film.
