I got a telescope

I recently got a telescope. Not a cheap one, not top of the line… like the 400 bucks kind… above average I guess.

I must say it does change the game. When I look up into the sky and I see all the stars with my eyes, that is one thing… but when I use the telescope I see there are way way more stars out there. It feels like I get closer to them as well.

Looking at Venus through a telescope is a spiritual experience compared to looking at it with my eyes.

I’m not too skilled with it yet. Takes some learning. But if you live, like I do, in a place with very little light pollution I suggest you get one of these babies.

To be frank I bought it for my wife. Technically her birthday gift as she really wanted one. But what is hers is also mine, so… 😂

Size matters when it concerns telescopes. The bigger the better and also the price increases with size.

I had a basic telescope as a kid and used to randomly search the heavens in awe hoping one day I would see something. Then one day I started looking at all the brightest stars because I had seen Jupiter and 4 tiny dots around it which were moons and so knew that many bright stars were actually planets. Imagine my utter wonder and joy when whilst so gazing I stumbled upon Saturn. Unmistakable. Even as a relatively tiny dot in my scope I saw there the rings around it. It was a thing of beauty.
