I am sure most of you have seen this film. I love it. Few times when a remake is better.

It is common knowledge that the film clearly has various spiritual / alchemical / initiatory qualities... a true hero's journey in a sense.

I watched it again yesterday and what I thought was interesting is the notion NOT that every day is the same, but that nothing remains from the previous day. So in a sense this is freedom. Phil (the hero) never really has any baggage. The only thing he can take with him is wisdom/knowledge.

Another thing is that when he is in his "sinister" phase it brings no satisfaction. When he is in his "depressed" phase the same. Also in his "egotistical" phase. The only time when he feels satisfied is in the "unselfish" phase.

None of this is new stuff. Lots of people have written about this films philosophical concepts. But what I just wanted to highlight, in relation to my own life and existence, is that - for me- it is the best path.

- To learn something
- To love something (without any condition, because in the film those people forget they were loved the next day)
- Everyday is the first and the last - in the moment

Anything else is basically - in life - irrelevant.

It's funny also.

Hollywood bosses have announced a reboot of Groundhog Day which will be identical in all respects to the original.

Stung by fan reactions to recent reboots which completely changed an established formula – such as Ghostbusters and Batman – studio executives are looking to capitalize on established brand whilst changing nothing at all, over and over again.

The new film will be released repeatedly over a period of years with different marketing but identical content, although long-term plans indicate that a different version will be made one day decades down the line.

The new film will not only be a shot-for-shot remake of the original hit, but will also use the same actors digitally de-aged so they look like they did the first time in the same sets and the same locations.

“If there’s one thing recent reboots have shown us, it’s that fans want more of the same, and let’s face it, this is the ideal format to give it to them,” Columbia pictures Executive Director Simon Williams told the press.

“The same, every day, forever. Give us your money.

“We’ll be giving this press conference again tomorrow, if anyone would like to come along,” he concluded.

Bill Murray has announced that he has no interest in appearing in the reboot, but insiders expect him to change his mind when he wakes up tomorrow morning.

They did a remake actually. And I like that film too. Tom Cruise "Edge of Tomorrow".

Time warped films are all great. It is impossible to make them bad, because I just enjoy the "idea" too much.

Maybe I am damaged because the first film I ever saw in an "fully aware" state was Back to the Future, when I was 7 (before that I never watched "films", only kids shows/cartoons etc).

My own view on 'altering the timeline':

1. It is possible to 'do' it in our universe.

HOWEVER

2. Even before 'doing' it, the alteration has already happened - so we're only 'closing the circle', so to speak.

3. For actually noticeable timeline alterations/variations, please visit alternate universe of choice.

4. (Quoting 'Lost'): Dead Is Dead.
