In this thread I will document and discuss the world-wide mind virus known as fiat and central banking...

Let's start with a historic example...

The Byzantine Solidus

s-l1600.jpg

While the Western Roman Empire collapsed under the weight of currency debasement and economic chaos, the Eastern Roman Empire—Byzantium—flourished for over a millennium. At the heart of this enduring superpower was a foundational economic decision made in 312 AD by Emperor Constantine: the introduction of the Solidus, a gold coin whose purity and weight (4.5 grams) were legally locked and strictly unalterable.

For over 800 years, the Byzantine Empire maintained this absolute gold standard without a single instance of artificial debasement.

The results rewrite the rules of modern economic assumptions:

The Ultimate Safe Haven:
Because global merchants knew the coin’s intrinsic value was entirely predictable, Constantinople naturally transformed into the financial and economic center of the civilized world.

Generational Planning: For nearly a millennium, ordinary citizens and businesses could save, invest, and trade across generations without ever experiencing the destructive forces of inflation.

An Austrian School Proof: To proponents of the Austrian School of Economics, the Solidus serves as the ultimate historical proof that a fixed, unmanipulated money supply does not cause economic stagnation. Instead, it provides the predictable, honest bedrock required for centuries of uninterrupted global trade, cultural growth, and imperial dominance.

I do love the idea of Gold.

I’ll start with a probably basic mentality: Fiat currency is not money. Fiat anything is not redeeemable for anything.

I’m sure this thread will eventually get into a decentralized crypto any sort of bullshit. Good luck with that. To be honest, ****, there will eventually be another replacement “fiat” “money” “currency” “sustainable something” that will replace Bitcoin. So I guess invest the bitcoin into that? Should be happening soon as far as I see. Just can’t see what it it’s yet. There’s too much wildfire smoke here in Montana to do anything at the moment…

You can also proof me wrongs. Your premise to begin with is the “fiat mind virus”. That’s old news. Here in America we call it the……

Petro Dollar.

And this so-called “petro” dollar is being challenged and might fade away.

Sure it's old news, but most people still worship fiat and they have zero understanding of debt. I do love gold, but it is a hassle... we need "money" of some sort fully backed by gold (or something else that is finite). What that "money" is, is irrelevant as long as it has an equal amount of gold and is easy to store and trade with.

Goldbacks are a modern 24K gold currency. Their intrinsic value fights inflation, protecting your wealth. Their fractional form makes it possible to spend physical gold on everyday transactions. Created in regional series, Goldbacks support individuals, empower independent businesses, and strengthen local communities.

Could this be a relatively safer way to quietly/discreetly insert alchemically produced gold into circulation?

If AI is correct, then probably not...

Circulating alchemically or non-traditionally sourced gold through Goldbacks is practically impossible. While these 24K gold notes feel like anonymous cash when spent locally, they are manufactured through a highly centralized, patented vacuum-deposition process overseen by private mints like Valaurum. This industrial production chain requires rigorous assaying, X-ray depth verification, and strict purity compliance for all raw bullion input. Furthermore, acquiring large volumes of Goldbacks requires dealing with regulated bullion dealers subject to strict anti-money laundering and identification laws, making it an unviable method for discreetly introducing unverified or anomalous gold into the economy. - Gemini AI

It's very easy to safely sell alchemical gold here in the US. If you just want cash that will stay off-the-books then you can sell to local pawn/coin shops without providing personal identification or triggering paperwork (IRS form 8300) if the cash value is under $10k. So sell $9k to one shop, then drive to another shop and do the same, then another, then another, etc.

If you want to sell larger quantities and launder the income, you can purchase an old decommissioned gold mine and set up leaching tanks and equipment to make it look like you're doing conventional mining. Once a year you take all your gold to a refiner and get a check, then pay the gov't their pound of flesh in taxes. Just make sure to refine the gold yourself first and add naturally common impurities like silver, copper and lead so the refiner doesn't get suspicious from finding weird impurities like iridium or polonium. Also keep the amount sold somewhat reasonable. If you try to sell the same amount of gold that is produced by the entire state of Nevada per year, it's obviously going to trigger some red flags and bring unwanted attention.

Just keep things reasonable and don't get greedy. I once read an internal document from the IRS where they vented and seethed about the difficulty in catching money laundering through gold mine operations. So if anyone has too much gold to get rid of and needs an American partner, let me know. :giggle:

If I have to go around to cash in a grand here and there I might as well just stick to my day job.

I actually ended up talking to with the leadership behind the goldbacks tech not so long ago. Most of them are spooks and us/gov treasury alumni. They patented the tech for the vacuum deposition of gold onto plastic, so you'd have to work with them to do anything at scale. I'm reasonably sure they already have some pet alchemists in a silo somewhere. Or maybe another country altogether.

Regardless if it is the State/CIA or not, a money system like the goldbacks are 1000% better than anything the State has put forward as money since 1971. Thus, if the entire US went to a 100% goldback money system it would serve everyone in the world and basically end wars and inflation over night. Well, some would kill themselves because they had 100% stake in fiat... but I don't mind. Greater good more important. Fiat is the cause of more suffering anyway...

Fiat=by decree. Countries have issued currency and declared that the currency has exchange value. Before, it was based on the gold standard. Now, it's based on the subjective whims of the government. Subsequently, the world is experiencing inflation of prices due to money printing and fractional reserve lending. Historically, the use of fiat currency/debasement of currency has led to hyper-inflation and economic collapse.

So Fiat means it's worth is what people take it's worth for? By change worth?
But isn't that better than linking with gold which is not there enough?

This is the fiat mind virus we are trying to cure.

A gold or Bitcoin standard (or whatever we use that is of a finite standard) is far better precisely because the supply cannot expand on a whim.

This happened today:

Limited supply is not a flaw; it is a feature that protects your savings from inflation, forces governments to spend responsibly, and ensures your money holds its purchasing power over time.

The stupidly accepted Keynesian economics the world runs on is built on a dangerous illusion: that a society can spend, borrow and print its way towards wealth. That system is gaslighting 101.

By constantly manipulating interest rates and diluting the currency, the current system robs everyday savers to fund bloated government debts and corporate bailouts. Fiat is a disease. Finite money is the cure.

The long-term consequences of fiat currency is that the actual wealth (aka land, goods, equipment, etc) gets bought up by the people who print the money and their friends, who get that money for free. Eventually, the economy can't support such parasitism and then the currency completely loses purchasing power. It's no different than when too many tapeworms have infected a host; host dies due to malnutrition and biological dysfunction. If gold was the standard, the prices of goods would be more stable and not subject to market manipulation/speculation as much due to the sheer amount of rehypothecation and naked shorting made possible by unlimited money printing. Unfortunately, in 1971, the gold standard was suspended, and we let bankers and politicians run the economic markets, which is no different than letting a crack addict run the pharmacy. Things end up going only one way, unfortunately.

Yes, if the world was on a gold standard everything would be cheaper than 100 years ago. It seems more expensive every year due to inflation, but if measured in gold (a fairly stable value that can be tracked through time) then everything is a bargain right now.

With a 1-ounce gold coin today, you can buy roughly 1041 gallons of milk, compared to only 59 gallons of milk 100 years ago... you can actually buy nearly 18 times more milk today with the same ounce of gold than you could in 1926. This massive shift is driven by two factors: the explosive rise in the free-market value of gold and the massive industrial efficiency gains in modern dairy farming... - AI

That's nothing to do with the money itself. Just with system abuse.
It seems more expensive every year due to inflation,
That's true, but also powers up economy.

With all the information currently available, financial illiteracy is a choice.

So it literal illiteracy, but that's another topic.

Savings destroy economy.

That's a classic Keynesian economic lie peddled by all their supporters and infecting everyone around them... like a mind-virus.

Savings fuel the economy, it funds business ventures and investments, it promotes future growth and keeps prices stable. Savings is a belief in tomorrow. Keynesian economics (anti-saving) is pro-debt and there is no tomorrow.

Keynesian economics is a system made for crack-addicted nihilists.

A final note I want to add: Within a Keynesian system, debt is amazing and it is the only way to store wealth without loss... I personally use all the loop holes I can within this system, because it would be stupid not to... however, in terms of the future, we all need to move toward a sane and sustainable system. Totally irresponsible not to.
