I suppose one should ask, if something can be discharged, can it not be re-charged? It may be a one way operation, such as a non-rechargeable battery, or a two way operation, such as a rechargeable battery.
Understanding the formation of dew and how it occurs, and how it interacts with the "spirits", both that which comes down from above, and that which rises up from below, one should be able to recharge the dew, but by then I suppose one does not need dew anymore anyways, and can use a different carrier instead. In my mind, I think the discharging is moreso from the sun, and you don't want metal because of an interaction after the sun has released the spirit.
