Another example is the pseudo creation of the "anti-vax movement" which is just a deliberate demonisation of genuine people with genuine and legit concerns over the impact and safety of various vaccines. I normally would agree, but there's another aspect to this. I think it was more dangerous to accuse powerful people in the past. Social media has provided some extra protection in the last decade or so because now when an accuser comes out the whole world knows and killing them would just make the accused look even worse. It still happens of course, but I think the internet now offers some level of protection regular people didn't have decades ago.

I could see a smart person staying silent 10+ years ago because they knew they would be killed (see "Arkancide")...but maybe now it's safer since whistleblowers are getting more media coverage outside of MSM control. The Streisand Effect is very real.

But then again, three of Spacey's accusers died in 2019. So maybe that "extra protection" is minimal.
