is there an alchemy organ like a world alchemy council or international confederation of alchemists, or some event that brings together alchemists?

Hi Blacksmith

Yes there is, the Alchemy Guild, but I would not waste my time with it as I don't believe any of the members are bonafide Alchemists.

My feeling is that it's just a company to sell new age alchemy courses and the like.

there is a link Here.

I was browsing this forum and I remember reading about someone asking if someone was going to an alchemy convention, I remember it being somewhere near Portugal or Spain

Here.

Groups are what people make of them.
To me saying something like: "any of the members are bonafide Alchemists" only makes sense if you are/were part of the group and felt it in your skin. Otherwise its a bit pretentious to point one finger at all the members from around the world, don't you think? It's like saying that "all the AF members are good alchemists". Both are fallacious.

That can make sense in an academic way, for instance, or to organize events where editors can present newly published works etc

Multiple gatherings, actually. 2012 in Paris and then 2014, 2015 and 2016 in Amsterdam.

It was Distilled Awesomeness.

Yes I totally agree with you Christophorus, and greedy companies are what greedy people make of them.
For me Alchemy Forums is the greatest "Not for Profit" social Alchemy group in the world, AF also has
a few "Bona fide Alchemists".

Yes again I totally agree with you that it is very pretentious of me to state that.

But ... I also think it is extremely pretentious of a group of people "Pretending" to be Alchemists to extort money from vulnerable students of this Great Art.

Note: I have just read through their site and some things have changed.

In previous years it was set up as a teaching company, if you paid for the courses over several years you were then Entitled to automatically become a member of their "Alchemy Guild".
I think they also had an additional Diploma course that allowed you to Teach students to become Alchemists.

Christophorus how do you feel about those that extort money from the vulnerable ?????
Do you condone this type of activity ??????
Personally I do not.

It would appear that has now changed and you can become a member for only $40 (usd) per year Donation, no Donation = no membership.

Agree.
But one thing is to say "few" other is to point a finger and say "any of the members are bonafide Alchemists". How could you possible say this? Is like saying all Catholic priests are pedophiles or all Islamics are terrorists.

Does the website promise someone that it will make the Stone? What do they extort? Extortion implies intimidation. Do they intimidate people?

Extortion is a crime. I don't condone with any crime. But extortion again implies intimidation. Do you know about any case of intimidation?

no Donation = no membership.

People pay for whatever they want to pay. Some prefer to pay 49 for dinner others to see a soccer game, others to have membership in an association. People are free to do it. Nobody puts a gun in the head of those willing to pay. they pay because they want. There are people paying little fortunes for old alchemical books. It's all a matter of perspective.

We all have to do the work, plant the seed and let it sink in our minds and hearts so that the roots and branches do their work.
It's easy to condemn and point the finger. The hard part is to share and help to nourish others' seeds, like "our" AF.

I personally see a lot of condemnation about groups and people in the alchemical community. And I do not condone with that either. I see a group (a good one) as a place of Synergy and inspiration.

Yes Christophorus, I agree with what you say, and thank you for your reply.

I do get a bit hot headed as it upsets me to see people being deceived with false advertising
by those that pretend to be something they are not.

It may not be extortion but I view it as crime against those searching for this Art.
